Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby written by F Scott. Fitzgerald.

The Great Gatsby - one of my all time favourite novels. Having watched the 1949 version and read the book several times now, I had always wondered whether there would be a modern reenactment of the movie. Recently my wish had came true and off I rushed to watch Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby as soon as it hit the cinemas.

Everything about the movie was just perfect. The characters were just as I had imagined them to be (Jay Gatsby's even better, considering Leonardo DiCaprio played the role). The ambience of the Jazz Age was very well portrayed and most importantly the outfits for the characters were simply impeccable.

Miuccia Prada collaborated on over 40 costume designs for the film's lavish party scenes. Raiding the Prada and Miu Miu archives, classic Prada designs were selected to perfectly fit the Roaring Twenties brief, and the result is a fashion fairytale come to life.

Leonardo DiCaprio's suits were absolutely exquisite. The styles, fitting and colours were just simply on point!

The settings reflected the contrasts between the lifestyles of the characters and the beautiful sceneries depicted the novel excellently. The music was a combination of contemporary and traditional although Jay-Z in this was quite unexpected it nonetheless fitted in perfectly for a modern twist.

Overall, the movie was a great success. It depicts Fitzgerald's novel beautifully and it isn't necessary that one must have read the novel beforehand to understand the movie.
